Kilkivan State School is a P-10 State school that currently has enrolments of approximately 100 students. Primary students are catered for in four classes Prep/Year 1, Year 1/2/3, Year 4/5 and Year 6. In our secondary department students are in separate year levels Year 7, Year 8, Year 9 and Year 10 for core subject areas with the Year 9&10 students combining for their electives.
Our relatively small numbers enable us to have small class sizes in the Primary School (currently all under 20 students) and in the secondary approximately 10 students in each year level. This enables our teachers to cater for individual needs of students and our generous teacher aide timetable ensures students are supported to fulfil their individual potential.
Kilkivan State School is also a Positive Behaviour and Learning School (PBL) and has begun its journey as an Art and Science Of Teaching (ASOT) school supported by the North Coast Region.
Kilkivan State School is situated approximately 50km north west of Gympie on the Wide Bay Highway. Approximately 1/3 of the students enrolled travel to and from the school by one of the three bus services provided by Queensland Transport. When students complete their studies at Kilkivan State School they access a bus service to Gympie for years 11 and 12.
